A Budget Officer is responsible for managing and overseeing an organization's financial planning and budgetary processes. They play a critical role in ensuring that financial resources are allocated efficiently and in accordance with organizational goals. Their duties include preparing, analyzing, and monitoring budgets, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing financial forecasts and reports to support decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and prepare annual budgets in collaboration with various departments.
  • Monitor and track budget expenditures to ensure they align with approved allocations.
  • Analyze financial data and provide regular reports on budget performance and variances.
  • Assist in the formulation of financial policies and procedures to ensure sound financial management.
  • Provide recommendations for budget adjustments or reallocation of resources based on financial performance and changing organizational needs.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting and financial regulations.

Required Qualifications:

  • B.Sc/HND in Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools for budgeting and forecasting.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
